William F. Sullivan

December 26, 1940 — April 6, 2002

William F. “Bill” Sullivan, 61, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon.Born in Dover, he was the son of the late Roy and Mildred Hines Sullivan. Bill was a 1960 graduate of Dover High School and a U.S. Navy veteran having served during Viet Nam. He was employed by Smurfit-Stone Container in New Philadelphia for twenty years and was the caretaker for Calvary Cemetery in Dover for many years.A thirty-eight year member of the Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia, Bill was also a member of Dover Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Dover Masonic Lodge and formerly served as a reserve deputy sheriff in Tuscarawas County. An avid deer hunter during bow season, he also loved traveling across the country with his wife their good friends, Larry and Judy Demuth and to professional bull riding events. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them on four-wheeler rides.Surviving is his wife, the former Nancy K. Albert, whom he married October 21, 1962 and would have celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary this year. Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa (Tony) Pace and Deborah (Sam) Watkins Jr. of New Philadelphia; a son, Darrell (Dodie) Sullivan of New Philadelphia; three brothers, Raymond (Sandy) Sullivan of New Philadelphia, John (Shirley) Sullivan of Wainwright and Frank Sullivan of Dover and seven grandchildren, Tony Jr., Mitchell and Bryan Pace, Bobbi, Kachina and Billy Sullivan and Stacie Watkins. A brother, Walter Sullivan is deceased.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Pastor Terry Downin officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dover where the Dover V.F.W. will conduct military graveside services. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home where Masonic services will be held at 7:45 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
