Wayne David Berkshire, age 42, of New Philadelphia, died in his residence on Thursday, January 7, 2021, following an apparent heart attack.

Born in Hickory, North Carolina, on August 5, 1978, Wayne is a son of Kenny and Sandy Bullard Berkshire of Mineral City.

Wayne was a 1997 graduate of Tusky Valley High School and the Buckeye Career Center, where he studied carpentry. Right out of school, Wayne began working in the Produce Department of the former K-Mart Super Store in New Philadelphia. He was later transferred to the Meat Department and became a meat cutter. Once the store closed, he was offered a position in the Meat Department of Walmart where he has worked for the past 18 years.

Wayne enjoyed detailing cars, helping anyone in need, working on projects in his shed, and being with his pug, Otis. Most of all, Wayne loved being with his family at their home and just being together.

In addition to his parents, he will be deeply missed by his wife, the former Amanda Canfield, whom he married on March 8, 2003; his son, Dade Berkshire of the home; two sisters, Christina Menefee of New Philadelphia and Doris Espenschied-Sommers of Dover and his grandparents, Barb Williams of New Philadelphia and Gary and Doris Berkshire of Dover. Completing the family are his mother-in-law, Gayle “Sis” Canfield; a sister-in-law, Trisha Canfield both of New Philadelphia and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Williams, two uncles, Bradley and Steve; his father-in-law, Max Canfield, and a twin niece and nephew.

In honoring Wayne’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

Wayne was an Amazing Man. He would lend a hand to help you, he would give you a shoulder to cry on. He had the best hugs ever and would always know when you needed one. I remember us sitting in my living room on 800 and us watching South Park. Sitting for hours at Donut Connection playing Magic. The Boulevard. Sitting around a fire. Soooo many memories are pouring out. Wayne you will be greatly missed by everyone who had a chance to meet you. My thoughts and Prayers go out to your wife, and your family ? Until we meet again. Love you ?

In loving memory of Wayne David Berkshire God looked around His garden And found an empty space He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So he closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn't go alone For part of us went with you The day God called you home. All our sympathy to Mandi, Dade, Ken, Sandy He will not be forgotten.

Wayne, I really enjoyed working with you. The encouragement you gave me on my bad days, the praise you gave me on my good days. It's going to be so weird not seeing you in the meat department scanning and putting away the truck, who am I gonna get to help me with my counts? You know them numbers so well! You will be missed. Much love and sympathy to your family. I know you are in a better place my friend!
