Thomas Edwards Lorenz, age 64, of Dover, died Saturday, November 20, 2021, in Select Specialty Hospital at Akron following a battle with COVID.
Born in Union Hospital at Dover on June 17, 1957, Tom was a son of the late Earl E. Lorenz and June Anderson Fontana Lorenz. He was a 1975 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and completed his formal education at Kent State University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science as a Geologist.
For many years he owned and operated Liberty Guns and Ammo at Dover and operated a fish farm from his property. Most recently, Tom has been employed by George A. Fiedler & Associates at Dover where he worked as a surveyor and inspector. Tom loved being outdoors, vacationing in the Western United States, hunting, shooting sport activities, canoeing, riding motorcycles, and being with his family.
He is survived by a son, Sam Lorenz of Dover; his companion, Mariah McDivitt of Dover, a brother, Larry (Arlene) Fontana of Florida; a sister, Inez (John) Durbin of California; two nephews, Rick Fontana and Kevin Durbin; a niece, Kim Durbin, many great-nieces and nephews, and his best-friend, Craig Williams of Cincinnati.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a nephew, Douglas Fontana and a niece, Lisa Fontana.
A graveside service will be led by Pastor Brian Flood will be held in the Stone Creek Cemetery on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 11 AM. A memorial service celebrating Tom’s life will take place at a later date.
