Scot Aldro Gerber, age 61, of New Philadelphia, died suddenly Monday, April 11, 2022, at work.
Born in Dennison, Ohio on October 3, 1960, he was a son of William Aldro and Shirley Joan (Touvel) Gerber.
He has worked at Progressive Foam for 30 years. He began in the mold department, then moved to the maintenance department because of his ability to fix anything. Always known as a hard worker, Scot also helped anyone camping at Atwood Lake fix things on their boats or campers.
Scot was a selfless, caring man, a member of First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia. For many years driving a bus for the Good Shepherd Ministry of the church. But his greatest joy was sharing time with family. His grandkids were the most important part of his life. He worked the midnight shift so that he would always be available for his kids and grandkids. He made sure that he never missed one of their events.
He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, boating, and fishing at Atwood Lake.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Gerber of New Philadelphia; children, Shawnda (John) Holland, Kayla (Keith) Beamish, and Jim Stringer all of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, William, Holland, Octavius Holland, Xavier Holland, Emerson Holland, Graysen Holland, Luke Holland, Zayla Holland, Ethan Beamish, Liam Beamish, Ravynn Stringer, Regan Stringer, and Maya Stringer; his sister, Cindy Gerber, and a brother, Bryan Gerber.
Scot was preceded in death by his father William Aldro Gerber.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Bryan and family you have my deepest condolences. I knew Scott for 14 years. Whenever we needed something fixed he would come and fix it for us. I don’t know if we ever will have a maintenance guy like Scott again. You will be deeply missed Scott! Rest In Peace Scott.
What an awesome grandpa he was!! Kayla served with me and Trent for years in the 3 Year Olds class at church. Scot would come just about every Sunday after church to pick the boys up to help Kayla out. They were always beyond happy to see him. He usually had 2 or 3 of their cousins with him as well! I could tell they all loved being with him!!
My deepest condolences go out the Gerber Family. I had the pleasure of working with Scot for 15 years and he will be greatly missed. Scot was an outstanding worker and truly selfless doing anything you asked of him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and your family. God Bless.

Bryan and family, I am still in shock and find it hard to believe. I’ve worked with Scot for almost 19 years now and he was always helping anyone who needed help. If it was broke we knew Scot was there to fix it. It will never be the same here without him. So sorry for you and your families loss and will be thinking about you all.
Oh, Bryan, how shocked I was to hear of Scottie's passing. You and the rest of the family are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Scottie mcguyver, what a good friend you were to me for the almost 16 years I worked with you. I treasure those times. I'm pretty sure nothing up there is going to need fixed, but if there is, you got it! Rest in peace, Scottie, rest in peace.
