Ronald Phillips

Ronald J. Phillips, 77, of New Philadelphia, died early Saturday, October 12, 2019, in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

Born in Dover Ohio on September 16, 1942, Ron was a son of the late Samuel Phillips.

For many years he traveled the country as he worked in the construction industry helping to remodel hotels. While living in Florida, he had a small lawncare business and enjoyed mowing lawns for his clients.

Ron enjoyed coon hunting with his father, drinking beer, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Shaffer Phillips of New Philadelphia; his children, Candie Phillips, George (Crystal) Kerns and Juanita Applegarth all of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Jessica Phillips, Miranda Philips, Destiny Combs, Samuel Phillips, Georgina Marker, Joni Kerns, Cassandra Lopez, and Helen Kerns; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Lilly, Keerstein, Elania, Gabby and Brooklyn, and an expected seventh great-grandchild due in November as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

In keeping with Ron’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
