Rita M. Goth

Rita M. Goth, 94, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully in Park Village Assisted Living at Dover on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Born in New Philadelphia on November 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Mary G. Moliski. After graduating in 1944 from St. Joseph High School in Dover, she furthered her education at Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus and St. Mary’s College Notre Dame, Indiana.

During World War II, Rita worked on the Dennison Canteen where she made food for service men that passed through by train.

Her professional career as a registered nurse spanned two years at both Union Hospital and the Tuscarawas County Health Department, before joining the former Morning View Care Center where she retired after 25 years as the Director of Nursing.

Rita was blessed with 67 years of marriage to the late John W. “Jack” Goth who preceded her in passing last year. Together, they were devout members of Sacred Heart Church. There, she was a member of the Altar Society and LCBA, where she was named “Fraturnalist of the Year”. Rita also was a National Honor Society, Kappa Gamma Pi, member.

Rita will be deeply missed by her family including her children, Joan Goth of New Philadelphia, Cathy Houglan of Dover, Mary Benya of Columbus; Tricia Breidenbach of Wilmington, DE, Barb (Bob) Geiyer of Findlay, Teresa Goth of New Philadelphia, Martha (Tom) Hacker of Newtown, PA, David (Peggy) Goth of Columbus, Helen (Steve) McKeever of Dover, Steve (Tessa) Goth of Ellicott City, MD, and Paul (Angela) Goth of Medina; and 14 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Jack, she was preceded in passing by her son-in-law, Fred Breidenbach; and her siblings, Fr. Wendel Moliski, Frank Moliski, Agnes Yosick, Frances Moliski, Mary Barkett, Margaret Scolati and Katie Ringwald.

Visitation will be held in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Father Jeff Coning, Father Tom Gardner, and Father Ed Keck will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover and to the staff at Community Hospice for their loving, compassionate, and attentive care.
