Rita Kay Kellar, age 72, of Tuscarawas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 16, 2022, while in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Richard Leroy and Marie Alberta Decker Roth, Rita was born on May 22, 1949, in Dover, Ohio.

Rita was a 1967 graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and was employed for many years by Industrial Finishers.

Her deep faith in the Lord was nurtured at Sharon Moravian Church where she was a longtime member and served as a Deiner and also enjoyed baking and supplying homemade pies for church events. In her free-time, Rita enjoyed spending time playing cards with her friends and family. She celebrated many wonderful adventures with her grandchildren and daughter and many precious moments with her husband which she often expressed made her life complete.

She is survived by a daughter, Shelley (Chad) Young of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Tyler (Cassie) Young, Taylor Young, and Nicole Young; two great-grandchildren, Senna and Malyck Young; two sisters, Janet West, and Linda Fisher; a brother, Richard (Carole) Roth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom (Janet) Kellar, Linda (Chris) Bloom, and Bill (Doris) Kellar as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, David Paul Kellar, and two brothers-in-law, Harold West and Larry Fisher.

The family will greet guests on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. An additional hour of visitation will take place on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 1-2 PM in the Sharon Moravian Church. Pastor Lloyd Gooden will lead a service celebrating Rita’s life in the church sanctuary at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery. A meal and fellowship will follow in the church social hall following the service.

Memorial contributions in Rita’s name may be directed to Sharon Moravian Church, 4776 Moravian Church Rd SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or to Community Hospice 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

I don't know the family. I met Linda when she was at bingo with Rita and i met Rita through Kathy Swaney. I was so sad to see that Rita had passed. She was one of the nicest people I've ever met. You all were blessed to have her in your family! I'm so sorry for your loss!
