Ricky L. Howell, 65, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Trinity Twin City Hospital at Dennison.

Ricky L. Howell, 65, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Trinity Twin City Hospital at Dennison.
A son of the late Karl and Gertrude (Ohler) Howell, Ricky was born April 3, 1953 at Dennison, Ohio.
Ricky graduated from Indian Valley North High School in 1971 and during his younger years he worked as a fuel truck driver for Buchannan Oil.
He was an avid sports fan and was especially fond of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers, as well as The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Peg (Johnson) Howell whom he married on February 8, 1975; a sister, Dru (Bill) Bichsel of New Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Fran (Joe Black) Johnson of New Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Howell.
In keeping with Ricky’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

So sorry to hear about Rick. He was the Mayor of Barnhill twice since I started covering the village for the Times Reporter about 28 years ago. He stepped in the second time when they had nowhere to turn and really helped the Village out of a tough time. He will be missed.
