Rev. Lloyd C. Hostetler, 76, of East High Ave., New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, February 27, 2003, at Union Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Alden, New York, on July 29, 1926 Lloyd was a son of the late Eli and Lydia (Summers) Hostetler. Lloyd was the founding minister of the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville, OH. He continued his ministry pasturing churches in Uniontown and Roswell, OH, and Salem, OR, retiring from the ministry in 1989. For enjoyment, Lloyd loved flying and owned several small airplanes throughout his life. He also obtained his commercial pilot’s license.Lloyd is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Edna Evelyn Dickerson; four children, Sharon (Ted) Peters of Uhrichsville, Rev. Larry (Janie) Hostetler of New Philadelphia, JR (Phyllis) Hostetler of New Philadelphia, and Twila (Dave Wood, fiancé) Ross of Uhrichsville; four brothers, Paul, Eli “JR” Jr., George, and Virgil Hostetler; two sisters, Evangeline Stern and Lois McBeth; ten grandchildren, Jason and Travis Wikoff, Jamison and Juli Hostetler, Sommer, Justin, and Brandon Hostetler, Danielle, Taylor, and McKencie Ross; and five great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Hostetler.Friends may call Friday, February 28, 2003, from 5 to 8:30 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A funeral service honoring Rev. Hostetler’s life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville, O, with Pastor Ted Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Following the committal service, friends and family are invited to a meal at the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions in Lloyd’s memory be made to the Christian Temple, 4249 Belden Dr. SE, Uhrichsville, OH, 44683.
