Pastor Mark Gregory Trotter, of Dallas, Georgia and formerly of New Philadelphia, entered into the presence of the Lord on his 64th birthday, Saturday, February 20, 2021. For the past months, Mark had gracefully and courageously fought a battle with cancer.

Born in Miami, Florida on February 20, 1957, Mark was a son of the late Albert Franklin and Peggy Delores (McCullers) Trotter and attended Miami Carol City Senior High School and graduated from Dade Christian school, Hialeah, Florida.

Mark earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and soon began a career of pastoring, mentoring, serving, and teaching others about the love of Jesus Christ. A man of true passion for all those around him, Mark lovingly poured out his knowledge and faith in the Lord to countless souls throughout his lifetime. He deeply enjoyed his 25-year career with the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia and later felt the calling to join the Northwest Bible Church in Hilliard, Ohio where he spent eight years as the Teaching Pastor and since 2015 has served as the Associate Pastor of ONE Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia.

In 2016, while focusing on what he called his four passions of ministry: Ministers, Marriages, Men and Missions, Mark answered God’s calling and alongside other pastors developed the Passion Center for Pastors, a mission in Malawi, Africa which has since trained over 1000 pastors during a three-year Bible training course for pastors which has expanded to eight different regions. Three times a year, Mark was able to visit the students during in person conferences and throughout the rest of the coursework would write and produce material and send it overseas to be introduced and taught. Mark was also able to publish three books, two Volumes of 52 Weeks of Pursuit and a third book, The Keys of Bible Study.

Mark’s outgoing, fun-loving, and deeply spiritual presence will be missed greatly by those who called him a member of their family. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 42 years, Sherry L. Trotter of Dallas, Georgia; his son, Justin (Morgan) Trotter of Holly Springs, Georgia and Jacie (Justin) Higgenbotham of Dover, Ohio; his grandchildren, Birkley, Judson, and Loxley Trotter, and Jaden, Jantz, and Jett Higgenbotham; a sister, Patti Trotter of Cocoa, Florida; his mother-in-law, Anna Marie Love of Sparta, Missouri and nieces and nephews, and countless “brothers” and “sisters” in Christ.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Trotter; a sister, Susan Park, and his father-in-law, Leonard Love.

The family will greet guests on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 4-7 PM in the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Mark had positioned his life to become a resource for pastors and to provide written resources for churches with a view toward sound doctrine and our ultimate accounting at the judgement seat of Christ. The family asks that those who wish to help continue this mission may direct contributions to Passion Center for Pastors, with the Memo: WordStrong, c/o ONE Baptist Church, P.O. I met Mark on a mission trip a couple years ago. I was so taken in mostly because of his joy in the Lord. He loved the Lord and was just so funny, which I just loved. He made a impact on my life. Going through really hard times forces us to look back at those who were a positive influence on our life. Mark ran the race of excellence well. I am so great full I got the chance to meet him. I am praying for your family. In Him, Mindy Caverlee

Mark’s pitcher of Biblical information and God’s love was always full and he was talented at pouring out, filling our hearts with how we should live. He will leave a huge hole in the life’s of those who knew him. Not the least of these his family. It was a privilege. My sincere condolences to Sherry and the family.

Dear Sherry and family, Word of Mark's Home-going came to me from our daughter, Jennie Strope. We are sad to hear of your loss, Sherry. You and Mark impressed us as a Godly, wholesome young couple, when you served for a time in Central Baptist Church, Huntington Beach, Ca. I know how hard it is to lose your mate. Bruce went Home on September 8, 2017. My loss is not something that I will get over in this life. I miss him every day, thinking of the happiness we shared with our 4 daughters and sons-in-law and 5 grandchildren. May the Lord comfort you -- He does. Love in Christ, Nelda Melton

I attended FBC N P for 10 yrs while he was there. He could sure preach the word. He brought the Bible to life. Thank you Pastor Mark for sharing your faith with us. I often question why God takes the good men because this world needs them. However I am happy that he is no longer in pain and he is now in the presence of his Savior. This man will be truly missed. See you there Pastor Mark. Until then...

Pastor Mark will be greatly missed because he was one of a kind. He was the type of Pastor that you could ask the hard questions to and he would give you honest, biblical answers. But in the next moment he would have you laughing so hard being his silly self. I mean prior to meeting Pastor Mark I had know clue Christian rap was an actual genre in music, but will never forget the rap concerts we were lucky to be audience members of on missions trips or just in random conversations. To his family, my thoughts, prayers, and hugs are with you.

Mark was a gifted man. I wasn't a member of your church, but I found him to be a great pastor and a wonderful orator. We met him at our son's wedding--Chris Page and Melody Barnes. When I would see him at the fitness center, many years later, he would always stop to talk. He also visited me at the hospital after my surgery. Such a compassionate person. You are in our prayers. Our brains have been bombarded by 1000s of memories this past week as we try to come to human terms with Mark’s homegoing. We have cried and laughed and cried some more. It was such a comfort to get to see you Sherry, Justin and Morgan, and Jacie and Justin. There were no words that could change the void he will leave in this earth. But we rejoice that he is in heaven with His precious Savior whom he loved and served so passionately. We love you all and will be praying for you as you walk through this valley of grief. I am so very sorry to have heard of your loss of Pastor Mark. We know that he is with Jesus now but he is so very missed by his family and friends. The very first time that I heard him preach the word of God at First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio, I knew that this was the church for me. Mark had a way of preaching and explaining the Bible that I hadn't heard in a long time. I always learned something from his teachings and enjoyed every minute of it. Pastor Mark made a significant impression on me with his preaching and teaching of God's Word, his sense of humor and his wonderful energy, as I know that he did with so many people. Sherry, please know that you and your family are in my prayers. And I pray that God's grace and peace will be with all of you during this very difficult time.

My life was impacted by Pastor Mark the first time he set down and opened the word on my first mission trip to Malawi, Africa in 2018. There was no mistaking Mark's love for the Word of God, people, missions, & ministry. Mark was full of passion, fun, caring, down-to-earth and on fire for the work of the ministry. I can't imagine a better first-time Mission trip with anyone than Mark. I pray Sherry, Justin, Jacie, and their entire family will find comfort in both the Holy Spirit, and in the legacy of the impact left for all who loved this passion-centered Servant of our Lord and Savior!

Knowing I can never see or hear Pastor Mark again in this life makes me sad but I also rejoice that he is home with his Lord and Savior who he loves so much. When he began the Saturday morning classes of ManUp at Northwest Bible Church I thought to myself "How Blind I've been all these years! He opened my eyes to understanding and studying God's Word in a way I had never understood." His teaching was truly a blessing to me and to my family. My prayers continue for Sherry and her family. Looking forward to seeing him again!

February 26, 2021 Our Condolences to the Trotter Family In Memory of Our Brother-in-Christ MARK G. TROTTER The members of Grace and Truth Baptist Church, Offer our continual prayers to the entire Trotter family … Sherry, Justin, Jacie, their spouses, children, and grandchildren. We are deeply sorry for your loss. Mark's unmistakable love for the Word of God and his ministry has greatly impacted many for the kingdom of God. We will forever celebrate in our hearts the life of this remarkable man, his love for the ministry, his love for people, and his desire to see the Children of God grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mark has left a legacy that will continue to bear fruit until eternity! Although it’s hard to imagine that Mark’s work here on earth is done so soon, our confidence is knowing that when he opened his eyes in glory, he heard those faithful words - “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:21 We will likely never know a finer example on earth of what it means to truly love the Lord and how to live a life fulfilled in Christ. It was an honor and a privilege to share life and ministry with him, and to call him my Pastor, friend, and counselor. We look forward to that day when we will all be gathered together in the presence of the Lord, where we will “sing and shout the victory.” Until then, we lean upon our faith in God to comfort us and comfort you. I first started coming to FBC in October of 1998. When I walked through the front doors of FBC and went into the worship center I asked my friend Tammy where the crucifix was. She said, "Um, we don't believe in that." I came from a Catholic background. Pastor Mark asked us to open our Bibles to the book of Revelations. I thought to myself, "Oh boy, what have I got myself into." Pastor Mark loved God and His Word so much it was infectious!! He made studying the Bible easy, and impactful!! He taught so many great messages at our church, but the one message that had the most impact on me was the Easter message he taught in 2000. I can't remember exactly what the message was on, but I do know that I got saved because of it! I have no doubt that He heard, "Well done thou good and faithful servant" from Jesus when he saw Him face to face!! Sherry, Justin, and Jacie I am so so sorry for your loss!! I will continue to pray for you through this difficult time.

Dear Sherry and family, Bill and I did not come to NW Bible until 2013. Pastor Mark was the one that "interviewed" us when we joined the church. I told Bill that I never knew a more precious, thorough man whose love for the Lord showed in his every word! I (through his teaching) came to love him as a son- little-brother! What riches he opened up to us from God's Word! As I prayed for him in the night, he kept asking me to pray that he would finish well, and that he would be ready for whatever God had next for him. That is exactly what I had been praying and I know he finished well and of course, he WAS ready to see our Lord and our God face to face! Our tears are for our loss. Jesus is with him now and he is in a place and with a mind that we can't comprehend. His joy is complete. His strong presence is evident in Wordstrong and 52 Weeks of Pursuit....... that big personality will live on in some of those grandbabies, more than likely! How I hurt for you, sweet Sherry and Jacie and Justin and your spouses and precious little ones. I pray that God's comfort absolutely overwhelms you through His people and His holy Word. As you truly come to terms (over time) with his being gone, I know our Lord and Mark's teachings from God's Word will be your strength. We are praying for you all and send hugs.

It is hard for me to describe how much I will miss Mark and how much of an impact he has had on my life. I will always remember his time at FBC, worshiping with him on the worship team, his incredible teaching and preaching, and the times he came back to preach at the conferences. I know that my knowledge and relationship with God and His word were greatly impacted by the ministry of Pastor Mark and I will be forever grateful. While I will miss him greatly, it is such a comfort to know that he is in the presence of the Lord and that he is no longer in pain. Our prayers are with Sherry and the family that God will comfort their hearts during this difficult time.

"Mark had positioned his life to become a resource for pastors and to provide written resources for churches with a view toward sound doctrine and our ultimate accounting at the judgement seat of Christ." I am a recipient of that investment. I was in desperate need of a biblical Pastor and father who desired to invest in my life and our ministry, and Mark picked up that mantle and became my personal Pastor. He willingly and graciously counseled me on a weekly basis. 3 times, we traveled to Malawi, and ministered side by side. The resources that he has left behind gives no man an excuse to not advance forward to take the charge to invest in the lives of others. I pray that when I stand before the Lord and Mark Trotter, that he too will be able to say... "well done thou good and faithful servant."

We are forever grateful that we were allowed of God to sit under the teaching of P.Mark for 19yrs.in NP. He “rocked our world”. He opened the Bible, made it come alive. Taught us how to study, rightly divide the word of truth. Because of him discipleship changed our lives. I wasn’t particularly a fan of Tina Turner, but I loved the “Tina”that was on a bus on a missions trip to the Philippines. Praying Gods comfort will sustain you all in this hard season of life

Our sincere condolences and prayers for Sherry, Justin, Jackie, their families, and Mrs. Love. We will be forever grateful for the years we sat under the sound teaching and preaching of Pastor Mark. He was so gifted in the ability to impart understanding of the Scriptures. I still enjoy his work through his books and podcasts. My husband was saved under his ministry and we both grew much during our time at FBC. May the Lord bless your dear family. Love and prayers from the Hafner Family.

I only met Mr. Trotter one time in Ocala, FL at Downtown Baptist Temple...BUT it only took one meeting to figure out he was absolutely ALL in and sold out for the Lord! What an inspiration to so many! I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the words he heard when he saw his Savior face to face was "well done my good and faithful servant!"

Words can’t describe the impact that Pastor Mark and his wife Sherry have had on my wife and I since we first attended a marriage conference he taught at in 2003. The divine architects blueprint for the home literally formed the basis of how my wife and I still interact nearly 20 years later. The 365 days of pursuit still echos in my mind and I am more interested in God’s word because of the influence he had on my life which to me is one of the highest compliments I think I could ever give. His life will live on and one day we will chat again in Heaven! To his wife and family thank you for your sacrifice in allowing Mark to invest in other people and I know it took much sacrifice and patience. But it worked and it is worth it because of the lives that have been touched mine and my family included. God Bless you!

Please except my deepest sympathy. My life was effected by Mark's life. I am from FBCJ. Also I have and currently am doing Mark's 52 week pursuit. And Keys to Bible Study. Our church came from New Philly Church. After doing his books. I can see where our roots ( church) came from. I appreciate the time Mark had invested in the lives of people. Sherry, I am praying that God holds you close to him and sheds his grace on you and your family. Sincerely. Judy

Mark grew up in Miami as I did, and he and I went to the same elementary, junior high and senior high school. Even growing up he had a special personality, connected with everyone. Re-connecting on FB with Mark was a treat. My deepest condolences to his family. Knowing he has gained the reward that he wanted all of his adulthood hopefully brings some comfort to his family. RIP Mark.

Our condolences to Sherry, Justin, Jacie & their families. Pastor Mark was a very special pastor & friend. God used him in our lives to teach us His truth & to strengthen our relationship with The Lord. Like Paul said to the Thessalonians, “you imparted to me not the gospel only, but your own soul.” Like to the Colossians, “you walked worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing being fruitful in every good work” Like David you were a man after God’s heart. Like Solomon he had a wealth of knowledge & wise counsel. It was a privilege for Sue to serve on the worship team for 20 yrs with him & for Mark to serve as head usher & deacon under his leadership. We were blessed to travel on many mission trips to multiple countries & states. We will never forget our latest trip to Israel. It was such a joy & pleasure to open our home to him & Sherry over the last several yrs when he spoke at our church mission conferences. He was loved & will be missed. He forever has left an imprint on our hearts & we are eternally grateful!
