It is with great sadness, that Lynne and Laurie announce the passing of their mother, Mary M. Stocker and for those who were lucky enough to have her spaghetti and meatballs, you will no longer be able to do so.

Born in Barnhill on November 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John and Angelina (Bonelli) Police. After graduating from the former St. Mary’s High School in 1953, she began working for Pan American Airlines at Cape Canaveral, Florida. She retired in 1995 from the former Bank One at Dover where she worked as a Loan Processor.

Mary was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia where she grew in her faith and also a member of the L.C.B.A. Mary loved to travel to Los Angeles, California to visit her grandchildren and always left with great memories that she forever cherished.

On May 26, 1973, Mary married Kenneth L. Stocker, who preceded her in death in December 2020. Additionally, she will be deeply missed by her daughters, Laurie (Alan) Burrell-Grewell of New Philadelphia and Lynne Vinkovic of California; her step children, Cynthia Stocker and Wesley Stocker and friend Victor Rotondo, all of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Grace and Ben Vinkovic; her step grandchildren, Ray (Erica) Wilson, Michelle (Harlen) Hirning, and Jesse (Harmony) Wilson; several great-grandchildren and will be sadly missed by her two sisters, Laura Whitred and Sandra (Ron) Contini and her sister-in-law, Mary Police.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Police.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 29, 2021 from 9 to 10 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Due to COVID, safety precautions will be taken. The 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

Finally, the daughters ask that when you pass by the home, please wave and think of a fond memory of Mary and Ken, sitting on the back porch, which they loved to do all summer long.

Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of both Mary & Kenneth. We did a few small plumbing jobs for them and even though it's been a few years ago they left an impression on us. Such wonderful folks.

Mary was a very sweet lady and welcomed me into her home like I was part of her family. If I could not be there on holidays she would send me a plate of food. She would always have a small gift for me on holidays also. She will be missed. I wish to offer condolences to her family and friends.

I was so sorry to see this. I’m sorry I didn’t realize that your dad had passed in December. My sympathies to the family losing 2 dear people in such a short time. I remember chatting with them when they would come to see Laurie at work. Delightful people.

To the families of Mary and of Kenneth, please know how loved and missed your parents are. I worked with Mary at Bank one, Dover. Mary took such great pride in her work. I grew to know Mary and Kenneth better outside of work at restaurants and concerts. We enjoyed his birthday party and their anniversary party. Mary was gracious and kind. She will be greatly missed. God is good.

So many good memories. One memory is the night at a New Phila band show and the boosters had sold tickets for a Pontiac. The number was called and I saw Mary running towards the car. As a single mom of two little girls, no one deserved that car more than Mary. I could go on. She was a very dear friend and will be missed from our Bank One retirees breakfast club. She is now with Ken again.

Sandy McCormick posted on 3/26/21

I worked with Mary at Bank One. After I retired, I started going to the Bank One monthly breakfast. Mary took care of getting the times posted in the newspaper. Also, she invited some of the Bank One Ladies to her porch and served her spaghetti and meatballs. Then, I married Ken's cousin, Earl McCormick, and I became one of the Stocker Reunion family members. I have missed the monthly breakfast since the virus. I always enjoyed talking to Mary & Ken. The family is in my prayers.

Laurie & Lynne, please accept my sincere sympathy in the loss of your mom. I have fond memories of her, especially the years we lived in the East School vicinity. Her front porch was a haven to my daughter, Elaine, when there was a loose dog in the neighborhood! Some people you never forget & your mom was one of those people. May the God of comfort give your families peace!
