Mary L. Gerthing

Mary L. Gerthing, 72, of Uhrichsville, passed away while surrounded by family, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in Community Hospice, Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born June 15, 1948 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, Mary was one of nine children born to the late William and Velma McLaughlin. She was a graduate of Niles-McKinley High School in Niles, Ohio and was a homemaker and caregiver to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary loved lilacs, collecting native American Indian things, listening to Elvis, reading books and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.

She is survived by her “Old Man”, Roy Husk of the residence, and together raised three children, Bill Gerthing, Velma Wilson and Terra Gerthing. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Angela Lewis, Kayla Day, Chris Young, Tony Gerthing, Lita Carpenter, Jeanee Gerthing, Michael Wilson, Jaycub Gerthing, Trisha, Keith and Alicia WIlson; 21 great grandchildren, Nicky and Trinity Gerthing; Madix, Maddi and Mal Bair; Blake, Atley, Chris and Mitchell Young; RaeLynn, Addy and Tony Gerthing; Kylee Koch; Gage, Jessi, Maddox and Mason Wilson; Rylee, Ethan, Kannon and Karson Wilson.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia from 5 to 7 PM. In keeping with her wishes, following the visitation, Mary is to be cremated and a private burial will be at a later date.
