Lyle Eugene Wikoff

Lyle Eugene Wikoff, age 72, of Benson, Arizona, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, with his loving wife, Wendy Porth Wikoff, by his side.

Born on September 25, 1950, Lyle was born in Union Hospital at Dover, a son of the late Neil and Shirley Stine Wikoff and was a 1969 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.

Lyle entered the United States Air Force in 1970 and proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in 1974. During his tenure, he was a small aircraft mechanic and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal.

Lyle’s love of travel led to a storied career path that included everything from being a Police officer for the City of Uhrichsville to serving as the maintenance and groundskeeper for Camp Tippecanoe and even spent time behind the wheel on the West Coast as a Greyhound Bus Driver. He completed his working career in the Maintenance Department of a local manufacturing plant and retired at the age of 62.

Soon after, Lyle and Wendy took to the open road in their motor home and ultimately landed in Benson, Arizona where they loved the scenery and weather so much, they decided to call Benson home. Lyle loved riding motorcycles, listening to live music, and being around his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Lyle is survived by two sons, Jason (Glenda Mast) Wikoff of New Philadelphia and Travis (Amy) Wikoff of Dover; a step-daughter, Retta Runkle Cross; a step-son, Ryan Runkle; six grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, Brayden and Addison Wikoff, Eva, Brayden, and Brice Cross, and Ronnie Paul as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Lyle was preceded in death by his second wife, Rosemary Hammersley Wikoff; a sister, Kathy Toles; a brother, Dave Wikoff; two nieces, Angie and Tanisha Toles; and two nephews, Justin and Brandon Hostetler.

Lyle will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A service celebrating Lyle’s life will be held for family and friends at the Pato Blanco Resort in Arizona at a later date. A private service with military honors will take place in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

The Avenidas Cremation and Burial Service in Tucson, Arizona handled Lyle’s cremation care.
