Linda Kay Bonnell, 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

A daughter of the late Kenneth and Darlene (Elliot) Swinderman, Linda was born December 11, 1948 at Dover, Ohio.

Linda graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1967. Then on November 16, 1969, she married the love of her life, Terry W. Bonnell, and together the couple raised two children, Tara and Todd.

The couple were longtime residents of Loveland, Ohio where Linda worked as a truant officer for Loveland City School District. She was a very active member of the community and school district. Linda was especially vital to the fundraising efforts of the school in which she operated the Tiger Clawset.

In 2014, Linda and Terry returned to New Philadelphia. She continued her active and generous spirit through her involvement with Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church and Camp Tar Hollow.

Linda enjoyed quilting and shopping and was known to always find a bargain. She especially enjoyed travelling and visiting the beach and was known to be very spontaneous in her travels.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Terry; her children, Tara (Justin) Zinser of Independence, Kentucky and Todd (Kelly) Bonnell of Cincinnati; her grandchildren, Nathan, Aiden, Peyton, Calleigh and Miles; a sister, Lois (Clete Bach) Swinderman and many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Swinderman.

Due to the presence of the COVID-19 virus, Linda’s family will be holding private services at this time with interment taking place in Evergreen Burial Park. A public celebration of life service will take place in the future.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to a scholarship fund supporting attendees of Tar Hollow Moravian Youth Camp which will be announced in the near future.

Terry,Todd ,and Tara ,So sorry, for the loss of your mom, and wife. We missed you both when you moved from Loveland. But, how could anyone every forget Linda? She would volunteer her time for the school ,community, and friends when needed.I remember sitting through many baseball games with her and her speaking only kind words for all the kids. She was also the person to call if you needed to find the boys. There are many more great things I could say about her ,but we have them in our memories.God bless you all! Dave and Linda Casteel
