Juanita June Schwartz, age 87, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Mineral City entered into her final reward, Saturday, January 29, 2011, in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late George F. “Frank” and Effie Potter Gardner, Juanita was born at Canton, Ohio on November 13, 1923.Juanita was a Licensed Practical Nurse having served at the Cleveland Clinic for a number of years prior to returning home to care for her family.More than forty years ago Juanita underwent a laryngectomy and successfully overcame throat cancer. She found support in an organization known as the Lost Chord Club where she served as the organizations secretary for a number of years.She was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and an active member of the New Philadelphia church community. In her younger years, Juanita enjoyed camping and taking fishing trips along the river with her family and as her family expanded found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Juanita also delighted in raising cockatiels, and caring for her cat and dogs. Juanita leaves behind a son, Daniel (Ethel) Petrovich; a grandson, Michael Petrovich; a granddaughter, Michelle (Bill) Metheny all of Canton; a sister, Bertha Pullins of Waynesburg; numerous half-brothers; as well as two great-grandsons, Billy and Nicholas, and a great-granddaughter, Angela.In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husbands, Nicholas Petrovich, John Smith, and Howard Schwartz; a grandson, Danny Petrovich; one sister and six brothers.The family will receive guests one hour prior to services on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, from 10 Â? 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at New Philadelphia, where Bishop Brent Meeke will lead a funeral ceremony celebrating Juanita’s life at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Sandyville Cemetery. Following the service, the family will return to the church social hall where a meal and fellowship will be shared.The family requests that memorial contributions in Juanita’s name may be directed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 521 Stratton Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
