Joyce E. Dudley, 87, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Park Village Health Care and Assisted Living Center in Dover.

Born January 6, 1935 in Akron, she was the daughter of the late James L. and F. Delphia (Parker) Doyle.

At Liberty, Indiana on October 6, 1952, Joyce married the love of her life, Jerry L. Dudley and together they enjoyed many milestones, but most importantly, they raised their five children together and she was always there for them, no matter what. Jerry and Joyce loved to travel and camp. Many memories were made while they traveled throughout the country on their Honda Goldwing and were fortunate to visit every state in the United States, except Alaska and Hawaii. Joyce and Jerry celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2007.
A lady of faith, Joyce was a longtime active member of Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia and leader of the church prayer chain. Joyce retired from General Electric in Newcomerstown where she worked for over 20 years.
Joyce is survived by her children Judy (Todd) Swinehart of North Canton, Joy (Tim) Mullins of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Jeannie (Chris) Wilson of Santee, South Carolina, Jamie Dudley of Los Angeles, California, and Jerry (Jessica) Dudley II of New Philadelphia, Ohio; her grandchildren, Amanda, Tyler (Danielle) and Diana Swinehart, Ashley (Key) Collins, Tasha (Bradley) Cleary, Alexis (Alec) Kroll, Chelsea Chanel (Dom) Dudley, Marissa and Jerry L. “Trey” Dudley, III; her step-grandchildren, Lucille and Logan Charles; her loving sisters-in-law, Jean Beaber and Dorothy Doyle, 5 great-grandchildren and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her 6th.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Joyce was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Friends are invited to call Friday from 9:30 -11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where Pastor Tom Hendershot will lead a funeral service beginning at 11AM. Burial will follow in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road SW, New Philadelphia, OH, 44663 or Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Park Village Assisted Living at Dover for their compassion and care.
Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and light a candle in remembrance of Joyce by visiting the funeral home’s website at

I love you Aunt Joyce. I will miss you here on earth so much but always know you are home finally and so happy now. I will never forget all our talk about Jesus. You use yo call me when I first got back to the states to sharpen me with Gods word. We laughed and talked so much about the coming of Christ and just how powerful His word is. You were a wonderful Aunt to me and friend. Until we meet again in eternity. Love you

Judy, Joy, Jeannie, Jamie, Jerry and all the grandchildren please know how much your Mother and Grandmother meant to us. Jim spent a whole year living with your parents while in high school. He was very close to both his aunt and uncle. Joyce and I spent so much time together when we were in our twenties and have always remained close. I smile just remembering the sound of her laughter. I know she loved the Lord and is in heaven where we will see her again. Please accept Jim and my sympathy and our love.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss of Joyce. I took care of her at Park Village for the last year. She worked at GE with my Dad, Jeff Quillin. I remembered her once we got to talking about different things & she remembered me always coming to the back door of GE looking for my dad to dum money off of him when I was younger. Joyce will be sadly missed by many.

RIP Grandma Joyce. I love this picture of me teaching you how to throw up west coast lol. You were the sweetest, funniest, sassiest, most loving grandmother, mother, wife and all around amazing woman. You were just such a joy to be around. You told me every time we spoke, or when you saw me, how proud of me you were and I hope I will continue to make you proud while you are up above in heaven. I’m sad you will not get to meet my daughter now when she is born but I’m happy I was able to see you a month ago, introduce you to Dom, and give you our baby girls ultrasound picture and tell you the good news in person. I wish I could’ve spent more time with you throughout my life but I will cherish all the memories of staying with you and grandpa every summer in Ohio as a kid. I know you are up there happy with Grandpa now telling him all about Ridiculousness and my rap music lol and smiling down on me and the rest of your children, grand children, and great grandchildren. RIP Grandma I’ll miss you so much and see you one day in heaven.

Dear girls and Jerry What a wonderful mother you had! I am so sorry I didn’t come up to New Philadelphia to visit her, I will always regret that! I will always remember when she & I became friends. She always helped me out when I needed to settle in when I came to New Philly in 1970. She was Gods faithful servant indeed! I can hear her laughter it was so contagious! I know she is with our dear Lord. God Bless you, her family. Love, Minna Phillips
