John Ashbaugh

September 24, 1943 — May 3, 2018

John Larry Ashbaugh, 74, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Mercy Medical Center on May 3, 2018.

Born on September 24, 1943, in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Homer Eugene and Wilma Lucille (Perkins) Ashbaugh.

Following graduation at Midvale High School, John married his high school sweetheart, the former Darlene Faye Cox, on October 27, 1962.

Together, they were blessed with the birth of six daughters and 11 grandchildren. John coached his daughters’ Midvale VFW softball team. He was an avid fan of the Buckeyes, Indians, Browns and Cavs. Most importantly, he was always there for his daughters and grandchildren, supporting their varied activities.

John was a well-known milkman for the Goshen Dairy for 36 years. The Ashbaughs were also members of Midvale United Methodist Church.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Vickie (Richard) Moore of Strasburg, Cindy (Bob) Anderson of Midvale, Dianne (Lyle) Dickey of Dover, Becky (Greg) Rennicker of Dover, and Lisa Ashbaugh of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Alyssa (Nick) Chambers, Ashlee Moore, Robby, Brandon, Cari, and Cameron Anderson, Kyler, Kaden and Keara Dickey, and Brent and Curtis Rennicker; his sisters Carol Richardson and Donna Booth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ashbaugh; and his sister, Norma Booth.

The Rev. Richard Rose will officiate a public graveside service will be held on Monday May 7, 2018 at 2 PM in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in John’s memory to assist in defraying expenses may be directed to any Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union.
