Joanne A. Quivey

Joanne A. Quivey, 64, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, in her home, following a sudden illness.Born December 24, 1937, in Strasburg., she was a daughter of the late Paul R. and Dorothy E. Weber Mizer. Joanne was a 1955 graduate of Strasburg High School, and attended Gerber Beauty School, Canton. She was employed by, and later purchased, Lois Ann’s Beauty Salon, New Philadelphia. Joanne was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Strasburg; she enjoyed knitting, exchanging recipes, gardening, and most of all, camping. She was a member of the FCRV and NCHA camping organizations, and served as state and national conservation director. Joanne was also a member of the Tuscarawas Co. Bacon Burners and the Swiss Wheelers of Sugarcreek. Additionally, Joanne loved her nieces and nephews, and spoiled them greatly.Survivors include her husband, Albert N. Quivey, whom she married July 14, 1957; four brothers, Sharon P. (Dolly) Mizer of Strasburg, Dennis R. Mizer of Beach City, Larry J. (Kathy) Mizer of Dover, and Dean A. Mizer of New Philadelphia; nieces, Sharon (Scott) West, Kassy (Dave) Johnson, Marea (Nathan) Andreas, April (Earl) Wines and Cassandra Mizer; nephews, Denny (Carol) Mizer, Donnie (Beth) Mizer, Bobby (Kathy) Mizer and Rick Mizer; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kyle and Kody Mizer, Wes and Cara West, Caitlin Johnson, Kaylee and Zoe Andreas and Justin and Jordan Wines; uncle, Warren (Gertrude) Mizer of Canton.A funeral service will be Thursday, April 18, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Fred Grosse officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 2002, 7-9 p.m., in the funeral home.
