Jeffrey Allen Lanzer

Jeffrey Allen Lanzer, 47, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, December 9, 2002, at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness.Born March 27, 1955, in Dover, he is the son of Ethel Faye Lute Lanzer, of New Philadelphia, who survives and the late Charles E. Lanzer. Jeff worked on oil wells as a supervisor for several different companies including Perkins and Summers, Adams Well Service, J.L. Coats Drilling, and most recently Union Drilling. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and spending time with family, friends and grandchildren.Surviving is his wife of 29 years, Thelma J. (Boitnott) Lanzer, of the home, whom he married, August 25, 1973; two daughters, Patricia (John) Doby of New Philadelphia and Kathy (Kurt) Young of Wainwright; two sons, Charles Lanzer of New Philadelphia and Jeffrey Lanzer, Jr. of the home; a brother, Mike (Ann) Lanzer of Cambridge; a half-brother, James (Sally) Fisher of New Philadelphia; a half-sister, Mary (Ike) Weller of Sugarcreek; seven grandchildren, Michael, John, Brooke, Timmy, Elana, Logan and Desi; a niece and nephew, Doug and Kellie Lanzer; and numerous aunts uncles and cousins.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Howard and Carl Lanzer and a half-sister, Betty Medley.Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2002, at 10:30 AM, at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia with Rev. Jim Borton officiating. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek. Following the graveside service, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 1417 Stone Creek Rd. S.W., New Philadelphia. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 12, from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
