James “Pee Wee” Morrow, 70, of Dover entered into his eternal home Monday, April 9, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Born at Spartanburg, South Carolina, on November 12, 1947, James was a son of the late Wade Morrow and Luzon Woodruff Todd.

He was a 1967 graduate of Dover High School and furthered his studies at the Northwood University. While in high school, James excelled at football and was honored with numerous awards during his career. His passion for the game carried on long after high school as he coached various area teams for many years. He used his time as a coach to mentor young men and teach them the importance of making positive choices and being good role models in their communities. As his coaching career came to a close, James didn’t move far from the field and could still be found on the sidelines running chains for various games. His alliance to Dover football wasn’t his only passion, he was also an avid fan of Ohio State Football and was rarely dressed in anything but Scarlet and Gray or Crimson and Silver.

James was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church at Dover. Professionally, he was an operator for 30 years at Union Camp, now Arizona Chemical and in his free time enjoyed fishing, talking about football with his friends and family and traveling.

James leaves behind his beloved family, his children, Shara Morrow-Watson of Dover, Aaron Morrow of Dayton, and Lynde Morrow (Daniel Miller) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; his step-children, Charlita Atchison of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Travis Atchison of Daytona Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, Absidy Watson, Samantha Blakely, Bryashia Atchison and Christopher Henderson; his sisters, Ruth (Roy) Hunnicutt of New Philadelphia, Gloria (Beautford) Keenon of Spartanburg, SC, Jackie (David) Amos of South Euclid; brothers, Frank and Wade Morrow of Spartanburg, SC, and Fred (Denise) Todd of Mansfield; his sister-in-law, Madeline Morrow of New Philadelphia and countless nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother and father, James was preceded in death by his first wife, Willi Pearl Morrow in 1992; his son, Keith Morrow; and his brother, Harry Morrow.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, 140 Regent Street, Dover where a memorial homegoing service celebrating his life will be led by Reverend Rasheed As-Samad at 1:00 PM.

Following the funeral, the family invites you to join them for a repast in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center, 5600 N. Wooster Avenue, Dover.

Memorial contributions in James’ name may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

It comforts me to know that when your father arrived in heaven your mother; Willi Pearl; was the first to welcome him home. After all, she had been anxiously awaiting his arrival since 1991. She had, long ago, chosen the mansion where they will spend eternity together. Shara ,Aaron and Lynde your father's love, adoration and respect for you was so evident. The majority of my visits spent with you father, this past decade, were spent talking about your many successes. He was so very proud! He gushed when speaking about his granddaughters Absidy and Samantha. They too were the light of his life. I feel extremely blessed to be able to call Sweet Pee my friend as I am sure you are to call him your father.

I am so sorry to hear about Pee Wee's passing. I cannot express in words what he meant to me as a young man. As I've gotten older I appreciate even more his humanity, empathy and the hurdles he had to overcome in his life. He taught me many lessons about life without ever talking about himself, many of the lessons I only fully realized years later as an adult. I only wish I would have spent more time with him during his last years and my two sons would have known him as I did. Pee Wee's spirit will live on in me and in the lessons from him I passed on to my sons. God bless.

Prayers to the family. Such fun memories of the Dover football “Road Crew”, shared by just a few. Can still see Pee Wee and Colby carrying travel bags of DHS players into the visitors locker room. Arguably two of the greatest in DHS history serving generations of younger Tornadoes! An honor for Shane and I to have known James.

Thank you for allowing me to care for James as I worked at Country Club. He knew just how to put a smile on my face even on the worst days. Every morning he would yell out in the hallway as I passed his room "Ashley, Good morning" He always requested me when I worked and daily asked about my son, even attended his baseball games. This man had a heart of gold and his smile lit up the room. He will be missed by everyone. James made a huge impact on my life and I couldn't be more thankful to have met such an amazing person. I'm so sorry for your loss, fly high Pee Wee!

To the family of the late Mr. James Morrow, I am truly sorry to hear about your loss. No one can prepare for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing he is resting in the arms of God and that although your love one has departed from this earth he never truly leaves, for he is still alive in your hearts and minds, and through your family and friends he lives on. Know that when you lose a loved one you gain an angel in heaven that watches over you. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Anna Bennett & Family Columbus, OH
