JAMES E. PENROD, 55, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday afternoon, June 30, 2002 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. Jim was born October 23, 1946 in Dover to Walter and Flora Ferchill Penrod. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School and served honorably with the U. S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. For thirty-one years, Jim worked in Sugarcreek for the Uhrden-Tubar Co. as their parts manager. He served for three terms as Exalted Ruler of New Philadelphia Benevolent & Protective Order of Elk Lodge #510, a life-member of New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445, a member of Uhrichsville Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #740 and the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum. Jim enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially taking his nieces to Pizza Hut on Saturdays. He is survived by his parents, Walter and Flora Penrod and brother, Richard (Judy) Penrod, all of New Philadelphia; brother, Dale (Emily) Penrod of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Joan (Harry) Wilson of New Philadelphia; nieces, Renee (Troy) West, Nicole (Jason) Incarnato and Alicia Wilson, all of Dover and Janice Wilson of Columbus, and great-niece, Kaitlyn West of Dover. Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2002 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, with the Elks’ memorial service at 6:45 PM and the Christian Wake service at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be Saturday, July 6, 2002, at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. George J. Schlegel as celebrant. Burial will follow, with military burial rites presented by New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445, at Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal a reception will be given in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. Contributions honoring Jim’s life may be made to the “Elks Needy Children Christmas Program”, c/o New Philadelphia Elks Lodge #510, 1180 Union Ave., NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663

I have known Jim for several years and was very sad to hear of his passing. I am sure he was a loyal and loved family member. He was also a loyal Elk member and loved by them.
