James Cusano

August 30, 1966 — March 1, 2018

James Joseph Cusano, 51, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord at 2:02 AM, on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Ohio State University Medical Center. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends, and went in total peace with no suffering.

James (Jimmy) was born on August 30, 1966 to Joseph Anthony Cusano (deceased) and Bonnie Caldwell. He is survived by a loving community of friends and family. Brother to Tony Cusano, and stepbrothers Brock and Stephen Cusano. Stepson to Maryjo Cusano. The greatest Uncle to Autumn, Abby, Braden, and Mia.

Jimmy defied all odds set against him, surviving over 30 years as a 3x transplant patient. Jimmy never played the victim, but was a fighter who would give you the shirt off his back. He graduated from Akron University with a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering. He was a faithful employee to Time Warner for 18 years. He never allowed sickness or diagnoses to keep him from living life to its fullest. He had a wicked sense of humor and some would say a slight naughty twinkle in his eye. But above all, Jim had a contagious light, sharing laughter, love, and inspiration to countless others.

We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from the New Philadelphia community, young and old. Jim will be missed but never forgotten. His memory outshines all grief and shock. His laughter leaves a legacy of goodwill and spirit. His love for friends and family is evident by the overwhelming flood of condolences and prayers. His childlike mannerisms were the envy of all his classmates… You can’t out-kid the Kidder…

Words cannot express our gratitude to the caring doctors and staff in ICU at the OSU Medical Center. Their experience, compassion, and thoughtfulness, prepared and comforted our family during the hardest of times. Jimmy received the best treatment money could buy. We also would like to offer special thanks to Nurses Anne and Aaron. Special prayers for Nurse Aaron and family. Again, we could not have asked for a better facility to care for Jimmy and family during his last days.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Geib Funeral Center in Dover, from 2-4 PM, with services to immediately follow. Address is 5600 North Wooster Ave. Dover, Ohio 44622.
