James R. Schaar

James R. Schaar, 38, passed away of natural causes during his sleep at his Goshen home in the early morning on Monday, May 27, 2002.

Jim was born at Twin City Hospital in Dennison on August 12, 1963 to Robert L. and Barbara J. Fellers Schaar and was a 1982 graduate of Indian Valley High School. On October 8, 1983, Jim married Pamela A. Maxwell at Sharon Moravian Church.

Jim’s long interest in heavy equipment led him to his life-long career in heavy machine operation. He had worked as foreman for the Costain Coal Co. in Gnadenhutten and was currently working for J & D Mining. Jim enjoyed his work, but most of all he loved spending time watching his sons participate in various sports activities, and going hunting with them. Jim was a member of the Indian Valley Athletic Booster Club.

In addition to his wife Pam, Jim is survived by his two sons, Matthew W. and Brian J. Schaar of the home; parents, Robert L. & Barbara J. Schaar of Goshen; sister, Sandy (Dan) Fait of New Philadelphia; brother, Steve Schaar of Goshen; nieces, Stacey & Daylenna Schaar, Christina & Danielle Fait and Courtney Garbrandt; and nephews, Bob Fait and Jason Garbrandt.

Jim was preceded in death by a brother, William Schaar; and grandparents, Walter & Rachel Schaar and Floyd & Kathryn Fellers.

Calling hours will be on Friday, May 31, 2002 from 3:30 to 5:30 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Brian G. Flood officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery. Following the committal a meal will be shared in the church.
