Italia Helen West

Italia Helen West, 78, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover.Born in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Elizabeth Antonelli Fragasse. Helen was a 1941 graduate of Dover High School and had retired from Union Hospital in Dover where she had worked as an aide. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia, the church choir and the altar society and also a member of the WWW group of Union Hospital. Helen enjoyed life, cooking, sewing, gardening, vacationing at the ocean and her family and friends.Surviving are four daughters, Barbara (Tim) Edwards of New Philadelphia, Mary (Mike) Bertoni of New Philadelphia, Teresa West of St. Louis, MO and Lisa West and her friend Ken Munro of Laurel MD; eight sons, Sam (Karen) West of Greensboro, NC, Dave (Marsha) West of New Philadelphia, Mike (Edye) West of Arlington, VA, John West of New Philadelphia, Dick (Diane) West of New Philadelphia, Robert “Pedro” West of New Philadelphia, Dan (Peggy) West of St. Louis, MO and Tim West of New Philadelphia; twenty-three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a sister, Viola DiGenova; three brothers, Bruno (Jewell) Fragasse of Nashville, TN, Orlando “Peach” Fragasse of New Philadelphia and Henry (Doloris) Fragasse of Dover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert West; sisters, Mary Orlando and Pauldina Berndt and brothers, Joe, Nello, Pasquale, Harment and Louis Fragasse.A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at 10:30 AM At Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. A meal will be held in the church hall following the committal service. Visitation will be held Monday, June 3, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A Christian wake service will be conducted at 8:30 PM.
