Hugh A. Schott

Hugh A. Schott, 72, of Morning View Care Center, New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a long illness.Born Feb. 6, 1930, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Church and Margaret Hollingsworth Schott. Hugh was a 1947 graduate of Lehman High School, Canton, and attended the University of Maryland. He served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Hugh was a self-employed businessman in retail sales for forty years.In the early 1970’s, he was the assistant baseball coach for Strasburg High School. Hugh was a longtime Cleveland Indian fan, and enjoyed playing golf.Survivors include five daughters, Mary Beth (Dean) Bridenbaugh of Strasburg, Claire (Dave) Hawk of Clover, SC, Kim (George) Breehl of Austin, TX, Peg (Dale) Korns of New Philadelphia and Marty Sallade of Dover; Lou Schott of Gulfport, FL, Bob Schott of Dover, and Tom Schott of Akron; thirteen grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and all of his wonderful friends and caregivers at Morning View.A memorial service will be Saturday, Mar. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m., in First Baptist Church, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Mark Trotter officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 East Sunrise Dr., Tucson, AZ 85718, the Paget Foundation, 120 Wall St., Suite 1602, New York, NY 10005.
