Howard A. Lute

August 4, 1954 — February 19, 2022

Howard Arthur Lute, 67, of Roswell, passed away surrounded by his loving family in Trinity Hospital at Steubenville on February 19, 2022.

Born in Dover on August 4, 1954, he was the son of Earl Lute of Midvale and the late Betty Gene (Van Dyke) Lute.

Prior to being employed as a trucker with Millwood Lumber, Howard was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

On November 22, 1996, Howard married the former Julie A. Tristano, whom he had dated for 10 years prior. Together, they were blessed with a beautiful family who Howard adored.

He and his eldest son, Ronnie, spent hundreds of hours at Midvale Speedway where they enjoyed racing their #122 car. He also cheered on Dale Earnhardt and NASCAR religiously. Ronnie, his beloved father, Earl, little Ronnie and Lucas all enjoyed countless hours together with Howard working on the ’54 GMC truck, taking drives, and just being together.

Most importantly the title and role of “Papa” he cherished fiercely. He especially had an unexplainable bond with his grandson, Lucas, who was inseparable from his Papa. His “babies” were his first thought when he woke and his last counted blessing when he went to sleep at night. They include Elizabeth (Bear) Lute, Lucas Cross, Lillie Cross and Jaxon Cross; his great-grandsons, Archer Allen Quillen and Hudson Howie Lute; and his bonus grandchildren, Jayden and Gretchin Rolli.

Howard will be deeply missed by his wife, Julie, who enjoyed spending time hosting family gatherings together, making soup on the outdoor fire pit, and being grandparents to the babies. He will also be forever cherished by his children, Ronald Allen (fiancé, Barbara) Lute of Wainwright, Ronald Arthur (Tabithia) Cross of Riverside, and Lorie Lee (Neil) Rolli of Roswell; his siblings, Earlene (Ron) Selzer of Lancaster, Tom Lute of New Philadelphia, Lola (David) Schwiger of Cadiz, and Victoria (Dale) Shonk of Midvale; his sister-in-law, Gloria Lute; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved mother, Betty, Howard was preceded in death by his siblings, Garry and Richard Lute.

Private services and burial in Sherrodsville Memory Garden will be held later this week.
