Herchel Duncan, 88, of New Philadelphia died December 8, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House following a brief illness.

Herchel Duncan, 88, of New Philadelphia died December 8, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House following a brief illness.

Born in Wayne County, Tennessee on November 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Hobson and Nola G. (Davis) Duncan.

Prior to beginning his professional career, Herchel served in the United States Army. Then, he was a fork lift driver at Marlite and also owned and operated his own semi-truck. He was also a member of the American Legion and the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445.

Herchel is survived by two sons, David (Rhonda) Duncan and Thomas (Renee) Duncan, both of Dover; nephew, Odiz Duncan of Loretta, TN; and his loyal companion, Sadie.

In addition to his wives, Goldia, Evelyn, and Margo; Herchel was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Richards; and siblings, Vernon Duncan, Virginia Butler, Doris Harlow, and Joe Duncan.
