Helen Jean Johnson, 85, of Dover, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022 in her residence, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.

Born on March 6, 1937 in Goshen Township, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Edith M. (Krocker) Beamer.

After graduating from Immaculate Conception High School, Jean joined Fitz Fitzpatrick and Don Zimmerman at their law office, Fitzpatrick, Zimmerman & Rose Atty. where she served as an office manager for 60 years, until she retired at the age of 79 in 2015.

When she wasn’t working, Jean devoted her life to supporting her husband and extended family’s interests. She also had a love for country music, watching all Cleveland sports teams, and NASCAR. John and Jean enjoyed traveling all over the country attending races and vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and Myrtle Beach.

Jean leaves behind her special family including several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Completing the family are her two sisters, Rosalie (Larry) Bolden and Carol (Larry) Valentine; and sister-in-law, Chris Beamer.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Linda) Beamer, Richard (Betty) Beamer and Kenneth Beamer.

Father Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Dear Rosalie, Carol and Chris I am saddened to hear of Jean's death. John and Jean were always the model for me of the Most Beloved Aunt and Uncle. I was always impressed seeing Jean and John at all of their nieces and nephew's school, parish and sporting events. They were always the most loving and accepting of people. I was blessed to have known them and the family. Be assured of my thoughts and prayers during this sad time. With much love,

Jean (and Emma and Gracie) were such a special part of our lives. She and her girls brought such joy to the neighborhood! My daughter befriended Jean over their shared love of dogs, and Jean was a wonderful encouragement when she was adjusting to her diabetes diagnosis. Her sweet presence is already dearly missed.
