Gladys K. Stahl

Gladys K. “Tye” Stahl, age 90 of New Philadelphia, died September 14, 2006 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover.

Tye was born November 9, 1915 in New Philadelphia to the late John and Laura Wise Christy.

She attended New Philadelphia High School. Tye worked at Union Hospital as a nurse’s aide for 10 years. Tye was a member of the Sacred Heart Church Altar Society and a life member of the Lady Elks of New Philadelphia. Tye was very active enjoying bowling, golfing and hiking. Tye could always be found at the Dover Farmers’ Market during the summer.

Tye was preceded in death by her husband George W. Stahl, who died July 3, 1968; her parents; three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. (Richard) Leggett of Strasburg; grandchildren, Melody (John) Elliott and son, Andrew of Granger, Indiana; Laura (Mike) Wright and children, Heather and Ryan of Uhrichsville; Greg (Theresa) Leggett and children, Casey, Abbey, and Rachel of New Philadelphia; Rick Leggett and children, Kyle and Stephanie of Canton; and Christy (John) Jones and children, Christian and Conner of Columbus, Ohio.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
