Frank W. Wenger, 81, of Dover, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, following a brief illness.Born in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Kohler Wenger. He honorably served his country having enlisted in the United States Army during W.W. II and had served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal and the European African Middle East Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. Frank had retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad where he worked as a brakeman; had formerly attended the Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia; was a life member of the Dover V.F.W.; a member of the Dover Eagles and the Dover Moose and was also a life member of the United Transportation Union.Surviving is his wife, the former Rose Lorenzoni McCoy, whom he married October 5, 1963. a step-son, Raymond D. (Irene) McCoy of Dover; two sisters, Sylvia Banks of Dover and Ellen Ladrach of Wooster; five brothers, Eugene (Ruth) Wenger of Stone Creek, Theodore (Dorothy) Wenger, Glenn (Betty) Wenger, Dale (Norma) Wenger and James (Rose) Wenger all of New Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law, Norma Wenger of Baltic and Kathryn (Wayne) Nielsen of Lake Mills, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 1 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Rev. Dr. Terry L. Downin officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia where military graveside services will be conducted. Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2002 from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Endowment Fund, c/o Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stone Creek Road SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio, 44663.
