Evelyn Virginia Mushrush, 94, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in her home under the care of close friends and family on June 9, 2022.
Born April 13, 1928, in Bolivar, she was the daughter of the late George Hiram and Elizabeth Caroline (Mohart) Baker. After graduating from Bolivar High School in 1947, she met her future husband, Arthur L. “Pete” Mushrush at a Sunday night dance at Zoar Lake. On June 9, 1951 they wed in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Castle, Indiana. They celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to Pete’s passing on February 12, 2002.
Evelyn was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother and friend. Evelyn treasured the time with her family. She knew no strangers and enjoyed the opportunity to have conversation with anyone she was around. She was a prolific walker, loved watching the squirrels and birds in her backyard, and always cared for her dogs and cats.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Cindy (Randy Walters) Mushrush, Larry (friend, Gay) Mushrush, Richard (companion, Deanna) Mushrush, and Judy (Steve McMillan) Mushrush; grandchildren, Maggie (Jason) Geisinger, Nathan (Mandy) Mushrush, Ben (Katie McKivergin) Walters, Peter (Christy) Walters, Philip Walters, and Melanie and Lauren McMillan; great-grandchildren, Ava, Ella, and Brady Geisinger, Aidan and Harper Mushrush, Myles and James Martin Walters, and Robby and Corby Walters; her special niece, Ginger Baker Hall; and numerous other nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Mary Bigler.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in passing by her siblings, Jake (Angie) Baker, Roland “Baldy” (Gladys) Baker, Ike (Rita) Baker and George Baker.
A funeral will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, June 14 beginning at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m. Following the service, friends and family are invited to the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be shared.
