Ethel Annette Moore, 67, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Union Hospital at Dover following a recent illness.

A daughter of the late Norman and Neva (Dyer) McCown, Ethel was born February 13, 1954 at Sutherland, Nebraska.

Ethel graduated from Wallace High School in 1972. She then continued her education at Chadron State College in Nebraska where she earned her teaching degree. She had a love for teaching and did so in a way that aligned with her faith in God as a teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Massillon and at Rush Christian School in Uhrichsville. She was so dedicated to the youth that she often went above and beyond serving not only as a teacher but also as a mentor, supervisor and administrator.

She was a very active member of LifeWay Church at New Philadelphia. Ethel enjoyed playing the piano and singing and was also an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.

Most of all she will be remembered as a very positive, upbeat and caring person who had a very strong faith in her God. She was truly a sweetheart.

She is survived by her children, Sam (Leigh) Moore, Kim (Mike) Paris, Stephanie (Ron) Imer and Leah Moore; her grandchildren, Lauren and Alyssa Moore, Sydney Paris, Jessica, Nikkole and Tristan Imer, Kellie (Steven) Teter, Nicholas (Alex) Moore, Adena Funk and Warren Dunne; 14 great-grandchildren and her siblings, Les (Sandy) McCown, Norma (Mike) Omelanuk, Wynona McCown, Ron (Margrit) McCown and Stephen (Denise) McCown.

She will be dearly missed by all.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stephan Moore whom she married on March 25, 1989; four brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 12 – 1 p.m. in LifeWay Church at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Ethel’s life will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Pastors Leslie and Travis Wright and Pastors Larry and Ruthie Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ethel’s memory to LifeWay Church, 742 Cookson Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

Aunt Ethel was very special to me for many reasons but I’ll only mention a couple! Besides always being fun with that big smile and laugh, she was very instrumental in me totally surrendering my life to Jesus. She encouraged and inspired me to play bass on the church worship team and continued doing that from them on. Ethel also lived with us for a while in Chadron where our son, David and her bonded and played many hours. He called he “awe awe boo” because he couldn’t say aunt Ethel and it stuck throughout the years! I’ll miss our LONG phone conversations, but am happy that she is in heaven worshiping the Lord, healthy, and reunited with family and friends! We will join her one day! My condolences to all her family. Peggy

I am so sorry to the family for your loss. Ethel was a good woman. Never heard her say a bad word about anyone. I'm very privileged to have known her.

To the Ethel Moore family; Susan and I knew Ethel while we were in college. She was part of our Chi Alpha campus ministry group and travel with us in Love's Echo. All through the years Susan and I have often talked about Ethel. She was special to us. One thing we can say about Ethel is that she love the Lord with all her heart. She was completely sold out in serving Christ when ever she could. She was a dear sister and even though we haven't seen her for many years we will miss her greatly. Know that at this time we are praying for all of you that God would give you comfort and strength in the coming days.

I lost my best friend of 33 years a few days ago. Ethel was my 4th sister. There was definitely an instant connection with us when we met at Word Of Faith church so many years ago. We always had such good times together over the years with her and Steve. New Years Eve would find us celebrating with games, food and fellowship. I have many stories of those times. Ethel was a special person, loving and kind to all she met in life. I will miss her greatly, but I take hope in the realization that she is at home with the Lord Jesus and will be there waiting on me when it's my time to meet her again. I pray God will give the family comfort and His peace during this time of grieving.

Ethel was a much-loved cousin. I remember her as always being upbeat and fun from our early days onward. Although I haven't seen her as much since we've grown up, we've stayed in touch through phone calls and Christmas letters. Her faith and positive outlook on life were always apparent. She will be missed by all who loved her. My prayers and sympathies to all her family.
