Eileen A. Ren, age 85, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, in her residence following a brief illness.

Born in New Philadelphia, on October 12, 1936, Eileen was a daughter of the late John, Sr. and Mildred Hency Dapoz.

Eileen was proud to have been a lifelong New Philadelphia resident and was a 1954 graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School in Dover. In 1955, she married Donald Ren and together the couple raised two children and celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2006.

As a young lady Eileen worked for Woolworths; and after having her children, returned to the workforce where she spent 38 years working in the Medical Records Department of Union Hospital prior to her retirement. Even after retiring, Eileen enjoyed volunteering at Union Hospital and for the Working Uninsured program. For many years Eileen served as the treasurer of the Union Hospital Retirees and was an active member of the Sacred Heart Retirees, the St. Joe’s Retirees, a member of the LCBA, the Sacred Heart Altar Society, and an active St. Joe’s Alumnus.

Above all, Eileen had a deep and unwavering faith in the Lord and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia. She was known as the rock to her family and was always there to reassure her family that God had a plan in times of trouble.

She will be missed by her daughter, Debra (Jim) Carlisle of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Judy Ren of Dover; her grandchildren, Ben Carlisle, Courtney (Kaleb) Tarleton, Kyle (Jena) Ren, and Rachel (Aaron) Fondriest; her great-grandchildren, Ava, Daxtyn, and Kensleigh Fondriest, Asher & Alexandria Ren, and Jaxx Tarleton.

Completing the family are a sisters-in-law, Martha Dapoz and Darlene Ren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen was preceded in death by a son, Robert Ren; a brother, John “Jack” Dapoz, and her mother and father-in-law, Tony and Esther Ren; and a brother-in-law, John “Jack” Ren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jeff Coning on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

To all of Eileen's family, I was so sad to hear of her passing. You are all in my thoughts & prayers. Growing up as a child, I could look out my kitchen window & wave to Eileen. Than I married in '64 &moved away , but in '92 my husband & I bought our old home place & Eileen & I were once again "waving" buddies. Her & her family were a big part of my entire life. I will greatly miss her & her letters! Rest in peace my friend. Cheryl ( & late husband Bill ) Baumgardner
