My sincere sympathy to Mrs, Doughten and all the Doughten children. Debbie is my classmate and friend, and I remember many wonderful outings and pool parties at the Doughten home, where we were always welcomed. A wonderful life. Good memories.

My deepest sympathy to the Doughten family on the passing of Dr Phil . I was a surgical nurse at Union Hospital in the 1960's and worked with Dr Doughten, Dr Giles, and Dr Doughterty on many surgery cases. He was always so kind and the Drs back then had a special friendship that you don't see much of today. Those were the best of times in the medical profession and we were honored to have been there. He will always be remembered as a special Dr who cared about his patients. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you on your loss.

My condolences to Dr. Doughtens family. Back in 1972 I had my first miscarriage and he was my doctor. I remember he was so kind and caring to me. I think of that even today as I drive past his old office on Wabash Ave. He was such a caring person.

George Wiggins posted on 7/29/19

Phil was also a great mentor. I have been asked several times recently why I decided to go to medical school and go into Family Practice. I think back on the times years ago when I would accompany Phil to Union Hospital to watch him deliver a baby, or observe a surgery, or go down to the morgue to witness an autopsy. I reply that I was mostly influenced by a great role model and mentor. My condolences to the entire Doughten family.

I have such fun memories of Cory’s Grandpa, his awesome (and often hilarious) storytelling skills, and beautiful relationship with Grandma, which I was lucky to experience on their visits to Seattle and trips together. I’m sorry for all of your loss, thinking of you all and sending lots of love and big hugs to the whole family.

The Bielski family is saddened to hear about the passing of such a fine physician and community leader. We are thinking Molly and family during this difficult time. We will miss seeing him at the Performing Arts Center. He and Molly have always been huge supporters of the campus and have been doing so since our inception, more than 50 years ago. No couple has been more instrumental to the founding, growth and success of the Tuscarawas Campus than Phil and Molly Doughten.

Sam Hitchcock posted on 7/27/19

So sad to read of the passing of Dr. Doughton. I first met “Doc” when he was a county corner, through my association as a policeman in New Phila. I used to see him and Molly and many social events. He was quick to say hello and always had a kind word and a story to tell. My most recent association with Dr. Doughton was through his longtime support of Summer Showcase. He not only contributed monetarily, but he and his wife attended many of the shows. I used to personally deliver his Showcase program booklet to his home, and it was not unusual for him to invite me out to the back patio where he would tell me some of his favorite tales. It was only last Sunday that I offered to transport he and Molly via golf cart up to the seating area of the amphitheater. He told me that they wanted to get ice cream first at the concession stand and then I could transport them after that. A short time later, someone came and got me and advised me that they were ready to go. As I drop them off at the amphitheater, he, of course, thanked me for the ride. With the passing of Dr . Doughton, the area has lost another local hero. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his lovely wife Molly and his family.

Dear Doughten Family, So sorry to hear about the passing of "Doc". We enjoyed seeing him at the Daily Grind and listening to him "educate" us about the good ole days every once in a while. He was a wealth of knowledge and his mind was sharp as a tack, especially when it came to recalling so many events in history. One morning, we sat there for a couple of hours at the "Board of Director's" table, just listening to Doc and asking him questions. It was such an interesting time and I will be forever grateful I was there to take part in the discussion. Sending our deepest sympathy and condolences to all of you, Doc certainly was an icon in Tuscarawas County and will be forever remembered and missed by so many of us.......... Robert W. Everett
