Dorothy May Casebeer

March 6, 1920 — February 7, 2002

DOROTHY M. CASEBEER, 81, of New Philadelphia, died at the Morning View Care Center on Thursday morning, February 7, 2002. She was born in Goshen on March 6, 1920 to the late Marvin B. and Catherine Shivers Kuhn. In 1938, Dorothy graduated from New Philadelphia High School. She married Charles D. Casebeer on April 17, 1942. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1975. During World War II, she worked as a telephone operator for GTE. Dorothy worked for the Muskingham Water Shed Conservancy as a switchboard operator and retired following 26 years of service. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia where she taught Sunday School for many years. Dorothy enjoyed reading and was an excellent cook. But most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cathy Casebeer, granddaughters Kimberly (Mark) Richesson and Kristy (Dave) Cardani, great-grandchildren, Kyla and Abby Richesson and Grace Cardani, and her sister, Helen Coventry, all of New Philadelphia; her brothers, M. George (Ginny) Kuhn of Dewey, AZ and James (Birdie) Kuhn of Attica, OH; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, the Bernie and Gail Schreiner family of New Philadelphia. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her step-mother, Gertie Kuhn. The funeral will be Monday, February 11, 2002 at 11:00 AM in the First United Church of Christ, 201 Fair Ave., NW in New Philadelphia with Rev. Jeffrey Gerber, Rev. Hugh Berry and Jill Lovett officiating. Burial alongside her husband will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the committal. Callings hours will be Sunday, Febuary 10, 2002 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home.
