Donald E. Litman, Sr., 68, of Dover, passed away peacefully in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

Born in New Martinsville, West Virginia, on January 7, 1951, he was the son of the late Everett Earl and Gladys Virginia (Butler) Litman.

After graduating from high school, Don married his wife, the former Lavina A. Strader in Harmon Church of God in Beach City on November 14, 1970. Together, they were members of Dover Bible Church.

Don worked most recently as a machinist at Ohio Cat in Bolivar. He was a very talented custom woodworker, creating beautiful jewelry boxes, model cars, lamps and many other items. He also enjoyed car restoration, cooking, and sewing. Don was a “jack of all traits” and loved dearly by his family.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his children, Donald (Vicki) Litman, Jr. of Akron, and Chrystal (Mark) McCahill of Barnhill; his grandchildren, Jesse, Kaila, Kyle, Justin Litman and Colt Myers; his siblings, William (Betty) Litman of Bolivar, Sharon (Ben) Moore of Navarre, Barbara (Cleve) Diehl of Canton, and James (Sheryl) Litman of Baltic; great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Ariel Litman, Victoria and Samantha Litman, and Aviana Litman; and his sisters-in-law, Shelvie Hostetler, Shirley Strader, Sheila Radabaugh, Stella Gubesch, LaFern (Joseph) Wisard, Helen (Paul) Price and Tabatha Eberly.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Harold W. and Eleanor L. Strader; and his great-grandson, Avory Litman.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 12 to 2 PM. A service will begin at 2 PM followed by burial in Dover Burial Park.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Seems like just yesterday the Litmans were living up the road from us and riding the bus together. Keeping you all in my prayers.
