Dianne Atkins

Dianne Helen Atkins, 76, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Earl and Florence (Henderson) Miller, Dianne was born June 11, 1941 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

On December 14, 1963, Dianne married Charles Wayne Atkins and together they raised two children, Wayne and Tammy. The couple shared 48 years of marriage prior to Charles’ passing on September 16, 2012.

Dianne was employed at Union Hospital during her younger years. She cherished time spent with family and especially enjoyed fishing with her husband and children, as well as family Bingo nights. She also enjoyed listening to the singing of John King when he would visit Amberwood Manor Nursing Home.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Sandy) Atkins and Tammy Atkins both of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Wayne Atkins, Jr. and Shane Johnson; a great-grandchild, Paul Shane Johnson; a sister-in-law, Edna Robinson; a nephew, Tommy Robinson; and two nieces, Rita Cristea and Rachelle Moles.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Terri Atkins; a brother, Dave Miller; her mother-in-law, Anna Atkins; and a brother-in-law, Lester Robinson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 2 to 3 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Dianne’s life will follow on Saturday at 3 PM in the funeral home. In keeping with Dianne’s wishes, cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be held in Holmes Church Cemetery at a later date.
