Davida Lomax, 87, a resident of Hennis Care Centre Assisted Living Facility in Dover, passed from this life Saturday evening, April 13, 2002, at Union Hospital, Dover, following a brief illness.A former resident of New Philadelphia, she was born in Dover on September 17, 1914, a daughter of the late Franklin and Edith Robbins Edwards. Davida was a 1934 graduate of Dover High School and was a member of the Church of Christ in New Philadelphia. She married Curtis L. Lomax on August 29, 1934 in Wheeling, WV, and celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death in 1995.Her interests revolved around her family and friends at Hennis Care Centre. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and music. Davida was honored annually at Hennis Care Centre where she did volunteer work such as applying mailing labels and creating crafts for their annual fund-raising bazaar. She was elected Valentine Queen of the assisted living facility in 1996.Surviving is her son, David (Rose) Lomax; grandchildren, Robert (Tamara) Lomax, Laura (George) Bell, Richard (Debra) Lomax, and Lynn Lomax, all of New Philadelphia. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin Lomax, Amy and Ashley Bell, and Andrew Lomax.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and William Joseph Edwards.A caring friend, Elder Glenn Carlisle, who visited often, and at her request presented entertaining programs for the residents of Hennis Care Centre will conduct her graveside funeral service at Evergreen Burial Park on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at 11:00 AM.
