David J. DeMattio

David J. Demattio, 34, of Midvale, died Tuesday morning, January 28, 2003 in Aultman Hospital at Canton. David was born September 7, 1968 in Union Hospital to Bud and Shiela Evans Demattio. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1987 and attended Buckeye JVS. On October 2, 1993 he married Rae Ann Mason in St. Joseph Church at Dover. David owned “Big Â?D’ Builders” of Midvale and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. David liked fishing, hunting, working with wood, golfing and camping. Most of all he was a great dad who loved being with his children. David is survived by his wife Rae Ann Demattio of Midvale; two sons, Joseph David and Maxwell Raymond Demattio, and one daughter, Samantha Rae Demattio; parents, Bud and Shiela Demattio and his sister, Lori Demattio, all of New Philadelphia; his brother, William (Sharon) Demattio of Norman, OK; parents-in-law, Ray and Faith Franz Mason and brother-in-law Ed Mason, all of Dover; aunts, Cindi (Eric) Swartzwelder of Dover; Marlene (Tony) Grimaldi of Leesburg, VA and Joyce (Fritz) Trimmer of New Philadelphia; and his uncle, Jack (Becky) Evans of Kiawah, SC, as well as many cousins and friends. His maternal grandparents, Lt. Col. William J. and Elizabeth Brady Evans and his paternal grandparents, Joe and Hilda Mathers Demattio, preceded David in death. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, with the wake service at 8:45 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be Friday, January 31, 2003 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. George J. Schlegel as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Following the committal everyone is invited to a reception in St. Ambrose Hall at the church. Contributions benefiting David and Rae Ann’s children may be made to the Demattio Children Fund, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third St., NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
