David G. Silverthorn

David G. Silverthorn, 49, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

Born in Canton, he was the son of the late Frederick J. “Mike” and Elizabeth J. “Janey” (Goerke) Silverthorn and a graduate of Gallipolis High School at Gallipolis, Ohio. David had served in the United States Marine Corps and was currently working as a machinist with Allied Manufacturing at Dover.

A passionate father and devoted husband, David possessed a smile and a laugh that could light up a room. He had a quick wit and an amazing sense of humor. He was a member of the Tusco Gun Club at Midvale and loved riding his motorcycle and going for drives in his jeep. He was loved and admired and will be missed by many.

David is survived by his wife, Melissa S. (Page) Silverthorn, whom he married May 29, 2012. Also surviving are his four sons, Tyler Silverthorn, Spencer Silverthorn, Zane Silverthorn and Lucas Gerber; his favorite cousin, Dawn Kolacsky; his brother, Michael Silverthorn; his three sisters, Christine Silverthorn, Rebecca Silverthorn and Monica Silverthorn; his in-laws, Judy and Klaus Weber and Robert Page and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brandon and Sara Kandel.

In keeping with his wishes, David is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a celebration of David’s life will take place at a later date.
