David E. Peoples

David E. Peoples, 73, of Deersville, Ohio passed peacefully at Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio on Friday, October 1st, 2021 lovingly surrounded by his family.

Born in Uhrichsville, Ohio he was the son of the late Nola Catherine Peoples and Albert “Gene” Peoples also of Uhrichsville, Ohio.

A 1966 graduate of the first graduating class of Claymont High School, Dave graduated from United Electronics Institute of Akron, Ohio in 1969. He was then employed by the Penn-Central Railroad and worked near Columbus, Ohio as an Assistant Signal-Man. After working for the railroad, he was employed by The Timken Company in Canton, Ohio. While there, he helped design and build a machine that stacks steel retaining cages, saving the company $90,000 over the cost of buying similar equipment. That success lead to build two more machines at comparable savings. In the year of 2000, he retired Timken.

Dave was an avid hunter and trap shooter. He enjoyed boating and camping at Tappan Lake Park. After retiring, he spent his winter’s in Kissimmee, Florida at Sherwood Forest RV Park where he made lots of good friends.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lee Peoples.

He is survived by a wife, Sally Smith Peoples of Deersville, Ohio, a son, Jamie Peoples of Deersville, and a daughter, Debbie (Tim) Floyd of Delaware, Ohio. Also surviving are sisters Gail (Mike) Davis of Dennison, Ohio, Lisa (Paul) Murray of Port Washington, Ohio and Charlene (Mike Hamilton) Abel of Freeport, Ohio. Brothers John (Tara) Abel of Bossier City, Louisiana, Jesse (Darlene) Abel of Las Vegas, New Mexico and Mark Abel of Dover. Grandchildren Joshua Cercone of Portland, Oregon, Josephina Peoples of Magnolia, Ohio and Aiden Peoples of Dover, Ohio. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, his body has been cremated through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and no public services are to be scheduled.
