Chad A. Johnson, 76, of Strasburg, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, following an apparent health-related episode while swimming in Apple Valley Lake.
Born in Dover on September 27, 1945, Chad was the son of the late Paul Johnson and Margaret and Theodore Sindlinger.
After graduating from Dover High School in 1964, Chad served in the United States Army. Professionally, Chad worked in the banking industry throughout his lifetime, serving at Huntington Bank locally as a commercial banker.
Chad had a boisterous and contagious laugh. His family will also remember his dedication to his grandsons, whom he supported at all of their sporting events. Chad was an avid cyclist, too. He rode hundreds of miles each month for both enjoyment and exercise. Additionally, he was a car enthusiast.
Chad will be missed by his daughters, Heather (Moses) Sherman of Copley and Nicole (Michael) Henry of Hendersonville, TN; his grandsons, Brock and Brody Sherman; sister, Valerie (Nate) Robbins of Westerville; his former wife, Diane Johnson of Dover; and numerous family members and close friends.
In addition to his parents and step-father, Chad was preceded in death by a 3-year-old sister, Terry Lynn and his brother Hal Johnson.
Cremation is being cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. No public visitation or services are scheduled.
Memorial contributions in Chad’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.

I’m am so saddened to hear this heartfelt news about Chad He was my very good friend for a long time and I will miss him terribly. I will always remember all our good times laughing and drinking Margaritas. My heart is broken. Rest In Peace Chad. I will never forget you. ? ???.
My sincere condolences to all the family. My fondest memories of cousin Chad are from when I was a child. He was seven years older than me. When I spent summer vacation with Aunt Nug and Uncle Dory I was in awe of him. At the dinner table he always had exciting stories to tell, usually about cars! Rest In Peace, Cousin Chad.
So sorry for your loss. Your grief is shared by all who knew Chad. Another dear friend has passed to his glory. I remember all of the crazy things we did in our youth. Party hardy at Boulevard Lanes six nights a week and then work the next day. We all had dirt bikes and enjoyed tearing through the woods around New Philly, lots of bumps and bruises. I'll miss him!
Diane,I'm so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family and sending many prayers.
Chad was a kind, gentle man with a penchant for telling stories and bicycling. He would describe himself with the quote, " I am just a soul whose intentions are good, oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood. " Deepest Sympathy
