Betty J. Martin

Betty J. Martin, 59, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Mar. 3, 2002, in the emergency room of Union Hospital, where she was taken following a sudden illness.Born Nov. 6, 1942, in Athens, OH, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Audrey Smith Pierce. Betty was a graduate of Waterloo High School, New Marshfield, and was employed for some twenty years at Alsco, Sugarcreek. She was presently employed by Dairy Mart, New Philadelphia.Betty loved to go fishing.Survivors include her long-time companion, Benjamin C. “Ben” Milburn of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Tammy Jo (Ralph) Emel of Spencerville; a son, Ricky G. (Amanda) Martin of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Tara and Trevor Martin of Dundee, and Shane Harrop of New Philadelphia; a brother, William “Billy” (Sherrie) Smith of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Mar. 6, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.
