Anna Peveto

Anna Mae Peveto, 96, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, July 9, 2018 in Park Village Health Care at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Charles Marion and Anna Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Snyder) Myers, Anna was born March 12, 1922 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Anna graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1940. She then entered the United States Navy having served during the end of World War II.

While serving in the Navy, Anna met her future husband, Malcolm Bruce Peveto and they eventually were married on April 18, 1946. The couple were married only a few short years before Malcolm was killed in action on December 11, 1950 while serving in the Korean Conflict.

Throughout her lifetime, Anna was a resident of the New Philadelphia and Midvale communities and was retired from Miller Studios where she worked for 29 years. Anna was a member of the Union Hospital Auxiliary, the Midvale V.F.W. and also formerly served on the Midvale Village Council. Anna enjoyed cooking and especially enjoyed feeding her family and friends anytime they came for a visit.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Judy) Peveto of Dover and Sharon (Joseph) Hamilton of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Noma Shafer of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great grandson; two sisters, Mary Hurt and Ellen DeTorio; and two brothers, Melvin and Louis Myers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Anna’s life will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Jon Long officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
