Anna Kathryn McMurray

Anna Kathryn McMurray, 100, of New Philadelphia, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia following a recent period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John Edward and Mary Lavern (Briggs) Prysi, Anna was born March 24, 1921 in her childhood home in Tuscarawas.

On November 16, 1940, Anna married Hillis Dale McMurray in Greenup, Kentucky and the couple shared 48 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 18, 1989.

Anna was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Curtis) Swegheimer and Catherine Ledrich both of New Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents and husband along with her son, Charles W. McMurray; a son-in-law, Timothy A. Ledrich Sr.; seven brothers and one sister.

In keeping with Anna’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
