William E. Purdy, Jr. died peacefully at the Truman House on Friday September 12, 2025, due to complications of Frontal Temporal Dementia. He was born on February 16, 1945 in Waltham Massachusetts to William E Purdy and Barbara (Hassan) Purdy, both preceded him in death. He also has a brother, Eddie Kellogg, who he had lost contact with. He is loved and missed by those he loved in life.
William is survived by his wife Jane Purdy, son Jacob, daughter-in-law Patti, and grandson Aiden. He is also survived by his daughters by a previous union, Tammy and Paula, grandchildren Courtney, Halie, Kelly, Aaron, Brent, and Destiny. Also great-grandchildren Leon and Isla.
William, who went by Bill or Wild Bill, began his love of auto-body and paint when he wrecked his mom’s car, and his mother told him, “You wrecked it, now you fix it.” Later in life he built an Edsel museum in Muskogee, Oklahoma for his best friend Bill Stiger, who preceded him in death. Bill maintained his love of Edsels throughout the rest of his life.
He also built his own auto-body and paint shop from the ground up. He also was an early lifelong member of A.B.A.T.E. of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
