William E. Buckohr

William Edward Buckohr, age 69, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness. His infectious sense of humor and ability to cause laughter will be greatly missed.

Born on July 10, 1954, in Union Hospital at Dover, Bill was a son of the late Edward F. and Ila M. Moore Buckohr.

Following his 1972 graduation from New Philadelphia High School, Bill furthered his studies at Lincoln Technical School at Indianapolis, Indiana where he learned to be a large engine mechanic. He recently celebrated 50 years of service with Peterbilt Trucks having started on January 31, 1973, and had no intention of retiring. 

His hobbies included classic car restoration, with his most memorable build being a 1956 Chevrolet Corvette. He was also an avid golfer having been a member of the Tuscarawas Valley Golf Association for many years and enjoyed attending professional tournaments and once caddied a Pro-Am Tour Tournament. Bill was a fan of professional football and NASCAR and was infamous for sneaking midnight snacks when he thought no one was looking. 

Bill is survived by his second wife of 29 years the former Valerie Grewell ; his greatest joys, his children, Jennifer Baker, Jack (as in Nicklaus) (Chasity) Buckohr, Christopher (Lori) Ricklic, and Tyler Ricklic; his grandchildren, Madilyn and Jaden Metcalf, Jack, Jr. and Joslyn Buckohr, Zander (Sarah) and Mason Ricklic;  his siblings, Randy Buckohr, Deb (Jim) Collins, and Dee (Art) Davidson; his mother-in-law, Betty Grewell, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Barcus.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 2-5 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a special toast of Bill’s favorite beverage will be shared at 5 PM.
