Wilbert (Web) E. DiGenova, age 87 of Hilton Head Island passed away at home on November 19th, with his devoted family by his side.
He was born June 17th, 1936 in New Philadelphia, Ohio and graduated from the former Midvale High School.
He married his high school sweetheart, Faye Beal on August 4, 1955 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage this year.
He is survived by his wife Faye, and their four children. Karen DiGenova and her husband Howard Dennis of Cambridge, Ohio, Ed DiGenova of Hilton Head, Jeff (DeAnn) DiGenova of Puerto Rico, and Jayna DiGenova of Hilton Head. Web’s family also includes 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Sister-in-laws Nancy Colombo of New Philadelphia, and Sandy Colombo of Tuscarawas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony DiGenova, who passed away a month before Web was born, his parents John and Lydia Colombo; his brothers, Tony DiGenova, John Colombo and Tom Colombo; and one grandson, John DiGenova.
Web was well known in Tuscarawas County as a salesman and prior to his stroke, owned a local newspaper called SEEN, that promoted local business and extraordinary people in the community.
He was a great family man who loved going to any sports events his kids, or grandkids were involved in. Nothing was more important to him than family. He loved golf and played in many leagues while living in Ohio.
Web never met a stranger and touched the lives of many around Tuscarawas and Holmes Counties. He will be greatly missed by his family, who were honored to have cared for him over the past several years.
Memorial visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, OH 44622, on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. A memorial service will begin immediately after visitation at 11:30 a.m. with his nephew, Pastor Jim Shamel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Web’s love of golf, donations can be made to First Tee of Hilton Head, firstteelowcountry.org/donate to the John DiGenova Scholarship Fund. Teaching young boys and girls to discover the love and discipline of golf, would honor him greatly.
