Wayne Sterling

Wayne E. Sterling, 87 of Dennison, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, following a period of declining health.

Born in Dennison, Wayne was the son of the late William M. and Pearl L. (Miller) Sterling. He retired from Beaver Excavating where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Dover Alliance Church at Dover. 

Surviving is his wife, M. Lucille Sterling of Dennison; four daughters, Kathy Shaver of New Philadelphia, Sharon (Leroy) Chambers of Dennison, Rhonda Davis of Tuscarawas and Melanie (Lee) Kohli of Dundee; a son, William (Jackie) Sterling of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; a step-daughter, Susan (Randy) Yoder of Winesburg; two step-sons, Charles (Tami) Koppes of Midvale and Karl (Kathy) Koppes of Cuyahoga Falls; a sister, Nancy (Gene) Smith; 13 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren and three Great-Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by a brother, Don Sterling, three sisters, Dorothy Long, Alberta Bonifay and Edith Ford; a step-granddaughter, Eva Yoder and a son-in-law, Mark Davis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM in the Dover Alliance Church at Dover where a service celebrating Wayne’s life will begin at 11:30 AM with Pastor Rick Rose officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Dennison at 2 PM.

It was Wayne’s wish that memorial contributions be directed to either Haven of Rest Rescue Mission, 175 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44308, or, Dover Alliance Church, 228 East Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
