Waldon Thomas Leggett, age 90, a longtime resident of Goshen, and recently of Park Village Health Care Center, died peacefully late Friday evening, November 21, 2008. Born at Paris, Ohio, May 24, 1918, he was a son of the late Thomas L. and Mabel G. Hahn Leggett. On December 1, 1936, Waldon married the former Thelma E. Hibbs. The couple observed nearly fifty four years together when Mrs. Leggett passed away November 27, 1990. Waldon worked as a carpenter for most of his life retiring from Gradall with more than thirty years of service in 1981. He was a past member of the Board of Education for the former Midvale Schools. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army’s Pacific Theatre, and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Leggett will be sadly missed by his companion of many years, Glenda Jentes of Dover, and his family that includes three sons; Richard W. (wife, Linda) Leggett of Strasburg, Terry A (wife Vicki) Leggett of Cambridge, Ohio, and Ed (wife Gayle) Leggett of New Philadelphia. Nine grandchildren; Melody Elliott, Laura Wright, Greg Leggett, Richard D. Leggett, Christy Jones, Kellie Hall, Jodie Jones, Jason Leggett and Justin Leggett also survive. Fifteen great-grandchildren, two brothers; Robert (wife Betty) Leggett of Atwood Lake and Joseph (wife, Margaret) Leggett of North Dakota, as well as a sister, Kay (husband Chuck) McCreary of Dover, complete the family. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Leggett is preceded in death by brothers; Dale, Max, Jack and Paul Leggett, and sisters; Theda Herbert and Betty Renicker. Friends are invited to call Monday afternoon from 4PM â?? 7PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Deacon Bill Hibbs will lead Mr. Leggett’s funeral ceremony Tuesday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
